Graham Rogers 5

School Leavers, May 1966

Managed to bag a Victor Ludorum in 65, but my main passion was cricket. Specialized in hitting sixes. Once scored 58 in 16 minutes - 4 sixes, 8 fours and 2 singles. If you scored 50, you got eggs and bacon for breakfast the next morning, instead of the usual stuff - a luxury I savoured four times. Most memorable moment? Hitting a ball from Fr. John Berry into the lake from the nets! Haha - he never did find it, but he gamely tried. Played for a club in Essex for a year or two after leaving St. Hugh’s.

So on departure in 66, I was due to go to the English College, Rome. But it never happened. Parents divorced, so I wandered into the world of commerce, and eventually left England permanently in 1969. But I carried with me a huge store of happy memories from St. Hugh’s.
